🟢 Heather Diaz
Counselor, LMHCA, MA
She/Her
Telehealth only
I specialize in Anxiety, Trauma and PTSD and Adoption
I view therapy as an opportunity to recognize the strengths of each person, the uniqueness of each story, and to find ways to use those strengths to create change and growth.

I enjoy having the chance to walk alongside people through all types of challenges and triumphs as a willing listener who can provide empathy, a non-judgmental view on current and past experiences, and support to work towards meeting goals.

The challenges in life can become overwhelming and emotions can be consuming, which can make it difficult to identify the next right thing for you in your current situation. My job is to be present with you in your journey and to provide empathy and compassion and to restore hope.

I take a person centered approach that views each person as the expert of their own life and the owner of their own goals. I utilize different modalities to help achieve those goals including cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, play therapy, and family systems therapy. I have additional training in addressing trauma and attachment concerns, including Trust Based Relational Intervention, and also work to continue following the latest neuroscience approaches including mindfulness meditation.

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults in individual, couples, or family therapy. In the past my practice has included extensive work with adoption, including hopeful adoptive parents, post adoptive parents, adopted children of all ages, and fostered children of all ages. I have helped individuals with depression, anxiety, relationship and parenting difficulties, PTSD and other trauma related concerns, grief and loss, and other life challenges.

I was born and raised in Colorado and have since lived in several western and northwestern states. I am an adoptive parent and part of a multicultural family. I received my undergraduate degree in counseling psychology from Colorado Mesa University and my graduate degree in community counseling from Denver Seminary.
