I specialize in Trauma and PTSD, Women's Issues and Life Transitions
My therapeutic approach is humanistic, trauma-informed, attachment based, and relational. My background as a clinical social worker informs a strengths and social justice-based approach as well. I strive to help create a strong therapeutic alliance, centering and empowering the client as the expert of their story and therapeutic process.

Prior to obtaining my degree in Clinical Social Work, I worked 25 years in various medical roles in obstetrics, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Psychiatry. This work provided valuable experience and solidified my belief in the value of client-centered care, assessing and treating the whole person, and working collaboratively with primary care providers and other specialists to support client physical and mental health goals.

Being trauma-informed and attachment based, I often work with clients to identify possible early adverse childhood experiences which may have contributed to insecure attachment and the development of oppressive personal narratives. During my graduate school research, I fell in love with Narrative Therapy. Storytelling is a powerful therapeutic tool, helping clients to identify, reframe and resolve oppressive narratives, leaving space for healing and growth.

Like many therapists today I have a “toolbox” of modalities I draw on in my work with clients, including/but not limited to Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and CBT. I obtained my MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and hold additional certification in Aging Studies. I am passionate about disrupting ageism in Western culture and work to educate clients on the value of growing and aging well throughout the lifespan.

I enjoy working with young adults and all adults throughout the lifespan. My past professional roles as Lactation Specialist and Childbirth/Postpartum Doula provide a unique interest in working with and supporting women through pregnancy, post-partum, parenting and role-change stages of life.
