Nathaniel Ross 🟢

I decided to join the field of Mental Health because I have always been curious about the way the human mind works, and the reasons and rationale behind the reasons people do what they do. I believe that in order for therapy to be effective, clients must be a large part of the therapeutic process. I also love to be an agent of the change process. One of the best parts of therapy is being able to see a client through choices and transitions in their thought processes, leading to positive actions and life choices.

I see clients dealing with a variety of mental health disorders, and life circumstances that bring them into counseling. My array of assistance includes, but is not limited to, working with clients who have experienced anxiety, depression, conflict resolution, relationship changes, communication skills, etc..

My approach to counseling is to create a safe space for growth and healing. I believe that growth and healing happen when people recognize that they have a circle of care (including clinicians) that show them empathy and support, that they can rely on and recognize that they have their best interests in mind. My therapeutic techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy to create an atmosphere where the client recognizes that they are in control of their therapeutic experience.

I have several years of experience working in mental health with adults. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of the District of Columbia and completed my Master’s degree in Social Work from The Catholic University of America.

I look forward to getting to know you better as we work on your growth and healing together.
