āShame can’t survive being spoken: Shame needs secrecy, silence, and judgment to survive, but empathy can destroy itā (BrenĆ© Brown). Empathy and shame resilience are core to my practice. Perhaps you are thinking you donāt want to hide anymore; you are tired of feeling triggered; you feel hijacked by anxiety and depression. Clients can expect me to hold a safe but brave space where we explore these issues and unearth shame. From my own time in the clientās chair, Iām well acquainted with facing paināand vulnerability hangovers. Not easy but worth it. I would be honored to sit with you and discover new possibilities found in healing.
I use a person centered, trauma informed approach and draw from a variety of talk therapy modalities. I spent a decade as an elementary teacher, and I have deep knowledge of child development. With youth, I typically incorporate play, art, and storytelling alongside emotion regulation approaches.
I work with adults, teens, and children ages 5+ and welcome clients of all body sizes, races, gender identities, spiritualities, sexual orientations, and neurology. The quality of alliance between therapist and client often determines the therapeutic outcome, so I encourage you to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if Iām a good fit.
