Job Summary: Provide clinical supervision to clinicians actively working towards licensure or completion of a master’s degree in the field of mental health counseling. Instructs clinicians on treatment plans, treatment interventions, and case notes.
Candidate will demonstrate strong competency in the following areas:
~Therapy Skills: Demonstrate superior ability in preferred therapeutic approach: including individual, couples, family, and/or group therapy.
~Assessment and Conceptualization Skills: Ability to help clinicians providing intake assessments, creating treatment plans, assesses clinician’s presentation and conceptualization of cases when presented in supervision from a given theoretical orientation.
~Crisis Intervention Skills: Ability to assess suicide and homicide risk and when necessary implement a safety plan for clinicians seeing clients.
~Documentation: Keep supervision notes, quick response to clinician emails, and other required documentation.
~An Effective Supervisor: Exhibits approachability, adaptability to change, personal stress management, caring about others, ability to teach or instruct others of duties and responsibilities.
~Focus on Professional Development: Helps clinicians actively work toward licensure, being current on all required trainings, seeks out additional trainings to improve clinical skills in evidence based practices, shows a willingness to learn, and demonstrates a commitment to cultural awareness.
~Understanding of Risk Management: Help clinicians with procedures, protocols, policies and interventions related to high risk client behavior. This is achieved through policy review, formal testing, training compliance, and validated observation which demonstrates these competencies.
Education and Licensure: Hold a master’s degree in counseling or clinical psychology, social work or other related field which qualifies candidate to be fully-licensed in the state of Washington as a mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist, social worker, or psychologist. Once hired, must maintain licensure and continuing education credits.
Certification: Successful completion of supervisor training program, as well as completed necessary hours of supervision hours to become a supervisor.
Preferred Experience: At least one year of experience working as an approved supervisor in private practice setting or in a mental health setting, residential or day treatment, which provides counseling services to individuals, couples, and families.
