Having now provided the grounds for a starting point, the remainder of this book sets out to offer an account of how from this unlikely beginning we are able to construct a world which appears to consist of things, and which enables us to understand and intervene effectively in what we take to be the world. Part I outlines the basic framework of such an account. Part II applies this framework to language, while Parts III, IV and V, apply the framework of closure to science and mathematics; art and religion; and to society.
